Oil. In Emilia Romagna we produce oil in the hills of Dozza and Imola, near Bologna, where we have about 800 olive trees of Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiolo. The plant is quite young , the first trees were planted in 1999 places, the latest 8 years ago. In Tuscany, we are in the town of Peccioli in the Valdera area, in the district of Pisa, where we have the main part of the company and where we also offer holiday accommodation in apartments. Here are grown the same varieties: Frantoio, Leccino and Moraiolo and plants of various ages, from older who are born again by the suckers following the freezing of the 80's, up to the last that were planted 8 years ago. The collection, both in a province that in the other, is done by hand, with the aid of networks and blast for taller trees. The olives are placed in boxes to allow air circulation and bring to the mill where pressed with cold extraction within 36 hours of collection. The Dozza oil's called: MONTICINO BIANCO, while the tuscanian one: IL CHIESINO. Wine. Tuscany has started the production of red wine. The vineyard area is about 3 hectares, of which half to Sangiovese and the remainder equally divided between Merlot and Cabernet. The plant was carried out in 2006 with a density of 6600 plants / hectare. We are at an altitude of 150 meters above sea level and the ground has a marine origin, sandy-loam-clay and rich in fossils. Sangiovese is bred "Guyot", while the Merlot and Cabernet are raised with bilateral cordon. CUPIDO is our blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet, whose maceration and aged in steel. His name back to the God of love and we have chosen to express love for our work, the pleasure of making and creating. Thanks to a slight aging in barrels, from CUPIDO get COSTANTIA. Nextly we'll produce a pure Sangiovese, which will be called: CORAGGIO PURO. Love, Constancy and Courage are adjectives that characterize our company.
Honey. It is produced and packed in our name, by Mr. Giuseppe Neri, in a apiary nearby our Bed&Breakfast site, in a longer timing uncontaminated land. In this apiary are living twenty families exclusively in honey production and one family only for the queen-bees production. The total bees population is around the million of units. Every family has provided of small house, arnia called and painted in colours visible for bees. Even if the bees are good and able to find their food: the nectar flowers, in distance from their houses, we made plantations of “sulla” and “lupinella” flowers, extremely appreciated by them, in order to do not get them in tiredness for searching. The main and most famous bee’s product is the honey, but from them you can get also the propolis, the pollen, the royal jelly and the beeswax. Our beekeeper makes pretty candles and precious soap bars with olive oil and coloured with natural dyes from plants like mint, sage, rosemary, laurel, mallow, etc... Some curiosity... -The propolis is an efficient antibiotical and a good protective agent for wood profucts. It was been used from Cremona’s luthiers in paint their instruments. -The beeswax candles are not making soot and it smell with a pleasant flavour of propolis. It are the only ones admitted in Orthodox church events. -One of the earliests cosmectical product in history was the Galeno wax. It was made with beeswax mixed with olive oil, water and borax (a boro salt) with strong emulsifing and stabilizer function.
